A while back I came across a video on how to make a snood. It's really easy to make one, and quite similar to a slouch style beanie. They're great for vintage styles, or renaissance fairs, depending on the style of snood.
I think her tutorial is really easy to understand. If you want to be more 'proper' with your crocheting, instead of just going through the loops, you can go through the middle (3rd) stitch. And the same for when you're making the headband part. You can go through the 1st, 3rd, and 5th stitches of the loops for that.
In the picture below you can see how I've gone through the middle stitches.
While here you can see that I just went through the loops for the headband
The draw string. I will be trimming it because it's quite long.
For mine I used 2 strands of crochet thread together. That's much smaller than the yarn she used but it works just as good, or maybe even better depending on the style you're going for. The holes will be smaller but you can easily just chain more than 5 if you want it to be more open. I kept going until it hit 12 inches in diameter. I measured it multiple directions to make sure it was mostly even. For the headband part I chained around doing 3 in each loop like she says and then I did the 12 decreases and went around 5-7 more times (It looks like 7 to me but I'm not very good at counting stitches) with no decreases.
She says this is a good size for short to medium length hair, but people can have very different ideas of what "short", "medium", and "long" hair is. It depends on how thin or thick your hair is as well. And you may want it to be a style that looks longer or shorter. So here are pictures of my hair and me wearing it to give you an idea if it will work for you if you have a hair type and length similar to mine. :) My hair is fine and about average thickness, maybe on the thinner side of average.
The strands over the snood is the drawstring. I didn't realize it was all crazy when I took the pictures. It definitely needs trimmed!
If you have any questions feel free to ask. I'm no expert at crocheting but I'll try my best to help! And if you make your own feel free to share your pictures with me in the comments, or on my Facebook page :)
