My First Time Using A Nail Stamper

*Affiliate links ahead.

I'd been wanting a stamper for a few years now. There were just so many choices. I couldn't decide and just never ended up getting one. Though I did have a few different styles in mind.
Last Christmas my good friend Becca told me she wanted to get me some stamping supplies. I was so excited!! We were looking at different stampers and finally decided on this big blue metal one*. It was one of the stampers I had already had in mind. She also got me some stamping plates, which I'll be doing a full post on sometime soon!
There are a few reasons I chose this particular stamper. First being, of course, the clear jelly stamping head. There is an acrylic 'window' on the opposite end so you can see in. This allows you to make precise stamps! Secondly, because the stamping head is quite squishy. This is better if you have curved nails. And lastly the metal handle. I'd seen some stampers with clear acrylic handles but I knew I would end up getting nail polish all over it like this other lady did in a review video I watched.

I tried the stamper shortly after it came in the mail but I just couldn't get it to work. After some more research, I figured out what I was doing wrong.

My biggest mistake was not using tape to clean my jelly stamper. You just take some clear tape (nothing too heavy duty! I even read you can use a lint roller) and touch it all around the stamping head. Take care with touching the tape. It worked best when I tried not to get finger prints all over my tape. And reusing tape didn't really seem to work for me.

And my other mistake was waiting too long to transfer the image to the stamper. The polish had dried on the stamping plate, and therefore could not transfer onto my stamper! With a little more practice, and having everything I needed ready, this stopped being an issue for me.

My first attempt. Not that great but decent I'd say! The first picture in this post is my second attempt.

Below are the 2 stamping plates I used.

I can't wait to try some new designs! Now that I finally have the hang of stamping I think this will be something I do quite often.
