Yesterday I may have made one of the best purchases of my life! The Tangle Teezer Salon Elite!
I've wanted a Tangle Teezer for a long time. Many of my fellow long hairs swear by it, including many of my friends! When I saw one in a shop here in Denmark for 79kr (around $11), I just had to get one. I haven't really seen them much in the US, and seeing a wall of them right before me, well, I just couldn't help myself!
I had a choice between The Original and Salon Elite. Not quite sure what the differences are other than the shape and size (Salon Elite being the slightly larger one from the looks of it) after a very quick Google search. They were the same price. I thought the bristles looked nicer on the Salon Elite, but of course I can't really say whether they actually are or not since I haven't tried The Original. It was just my first impression upon comparing them through their clear plastic packaging.
There were many color options in the store I was in. All pink, all black, purple with pink bristles, orange with yellow bristles, and blue with pink bristles. I just love blue and pink together so I was super excited to see that color combo!
The Original came in some other colors. I can't really remember which ones but I do recall a red one. Tangle Teezers come in a huge variety of colors, so you'll probably find one that's just for you! I've even seen a black and shiny gold compact version! Gorgeous!
It feels very comfortable in your hand. It looks like you would easily lose your grip but I haven't found that to be the case so far. I believe the slightly curved design helps this! It's pretty much comfortable no matter how you hold it, in your left or right hand!
The brush part is curved a bit. I like this part of it's design especially when using it on my scalp.
The bristles seem to be very gentle. If you run your fingers over them they make a noise, using it on your hair it makes the same noise, however I haven't experienced much snagging, if any at all! It moves through the hair very nicely. Definitely works as advertised for me!
The box says it's meant for all hair types and can be used on wet or dry hair.
But just in case anyone is wondering, here is a little info about my hair!
Hair volume: Thin to average
Individual hair strand thickness: A mix of fine and normal
Texture: Straight
Length: Classic length (or butt length)
I really liked the packaging. It would make for a lovely gift! And you can see the brush pretty well before purchasing, which I like. I also loved the little paper in the back with the flag on it. They are very proud about their product being made in Great Britain!
Now for the part I'm most impressed by (besides the fact that it doesn't snag my hair)!
This morning I detangled my hair. Normally this takes me anywhere from 10 to 20 minutes depending on how knotted up my hair is and how I kept it while I slept. Today it took me no time at all. I didn't actually time myself but I'd say no more than 5 minutes! And no pulling, no pain, no ripping that I could tell.
And! It did a phenomenal job of getting the lint out of my hair. With hair this length you're bound to get lint in your hair. I leave mine up a lot and still end up with a lot of lint. I guess from the blankets in the bed. Anyways, this eliminates my normal 2 step process of detangling! I go back in with a fine tooth comb to get all the lint out normally, so this is a super time saver!!
Here are some miscellaneous pictures that didn't make it into the main part of the post! Hope you enjoyed this little review, if you have any questions about the Tangle Teezer please feel free to ask!
